Counselor focuses on children, teen issues
Moorpark Counseling welcomes Annette Markowitz, a new counselor to the office.
Markowitz is a licensed marriage and family therapist. She seeks to serve the counseling needs of local residents with affordable counseling.
Markowitz is a graduate of Pepperdine University with a master's degree in marriage and family therapy.
She specializes in providing services to children and teens with behavior problems and also works with parents in strengthening parenting skills.
"Working with parents is integral in my work with children and teens when building family relationships," said Markowitz.
Markowitz also specializes in the area of chronic illness, with an emphasis in diabetes. A Type 1 diabetic herself, Markowitz facilitates diabetes support groups and individual counseling for children, adults, and family members to help cope with the issues related to diabetes.
"Diabetes is a disease that is escalating to 23 million people in the US with 15,000 youth diagnosed with this disease. That's why having counseling and support groups are essential," said Markowitz.
